Complete representation from lawsuit to appeal in sports disputes

Two different disputes, one common goal: protecting client rights and ensuring a fair review. ARROWS Law Firm secured the dismissal of a four-million-dollar lawsuit in the first instance and paved the way for a judicial review of the FAČR's decision before the Supreme Court.

ARROWS Law Firm represented a client in two significant disputes. The first concerned compensation for damages arising from liability for breach of duty of care in the performance of the function of a member of the board of directors; the claim in the amount of CZK 4,000,000 was dismissed by the court of first instance, and an appeal was filed against the decision.

The second dispute concerned the invalidity of decisions made by the bodies of the Czech Football Association (FAČR). Based on our appeal, the Supreme Court, in its ruling of March 29, 2023, ref. no. 27 Cdo 3737/2021, overturned the decisions of the appellate and first-instance courts and returned the case for further proceedings; The decision also defined the regime of judicial review of the association's arbitration commission and was published in the Collection of Court Decisions (4/2024).

Our legal advice mainly included procedural strategy, preparation and filing of lawsuits and appeals, client representation in court, and work with evidence, including appeal arguments. The representation team was led by Mgr. Jan Medek, whose primary specialization is disputes between shareholders and corporate litigation (transfers of shares and stocks, fair exit, squeeze-out, and compensation); the case was based on the excellent work of colleagues across the disputed agenda.
